Higher Broughton: Frequently asked questions

You’re part of the journey too!

At Higher Broughton, we value you, the parents and carers, that's why we are proud to provide lots of opportunities to share learning between the home and our nursery.

We will give you the tools and techniques to support your child’s learning and development and are here for you if you have any questions.

Can I come and visit my child?

Of course, you’re welcome anytime! Once a month we have a stay and play hour for you and your child, as well as a variety of parents’ days in March and October and parties at Christmas, Easter and in summer.

Being worried about leaving your child for the first time is totally normal but please be assured that we aim to make the process a positive one, not only for your child but for you.

We’re here for you if you need any support, whether that be helping your child settle in with us up to when your child is ready to transition to reception and school.

We use I Connect to keep you updated on your child’s learning and development and share observations, tracking and assessments.

You will also be able to share observations from home. We believe that this shared learning will help your child to reach their full potential and have fun achieving this.

Of course, we will let you know in plenty of time and discuss with you whether feel comfortable that this is the next step. We’ll also introduce you both to your new key person and let your child visit the new room regularly to help them move across.

When it’s time to move on we will link closely with the teachers/professionals of the other nursery or school.

We will arrange for the staff from the school or nursery to come and visit our nursery to observe your child and share information about things they like and do not like and their development.

It can be a daunting process but we’re here with you every step of the way as we get your child ready for the next step in their journey.
